RNSF26 - What do I need?

ree

A good question, well asked!

For those attending for the first time, you don’t need to spend £1000s on kit!

Borrow what you can from mates, buy cheaply from places like Decathlon, Sports Direct and TKMAXX, but make sure whatever you get is suitable for the environment (aka: a cold, snowy mountain!). 🏔️

Our top tips:

Non-waterproof puffa type jackets aren’t practical – your kit needs to be warm and waterproof!

Ski trousers/Snowboard pants should also be waterproof. Just remember, snow is wet, especially when it melts..! ❄️

Decent gloves are really important, nobody wants cold hands because that will really ruin your day. 🧤

Googles with more than one lens (dark lense for bright days/light lens for cloudy days) might also be useful, but not essential.

While you may think wearing sunglasses is cool while on the snow, they are not permitted unless they are approved for use by your instructor – only ‘ballistic/shatterproof’ glasses can be worn. This is for your protection and is non-negotiable!

We do recommend that any snowboarders wear protective/impact type shorts under their snowpants – these will help when you fall!  Wrist guards can also be worn and may reduce risk of injury when falling.

Helmets can be bought at a reasonable price, and worth it if you intend to ski/snowboard more than once. However, we do not recommend you buy a used helmet!

Don’t forget, any questions, just ask 😎
